Sales Reps are undoubtedly frequent lone workers, however as they are often employed in a Business to Business role they are often associated with a lower social risk than a Resident Liaison Officer for example. This doesn't affect an employer's duty of care however.
Workers of this type also face a level of environmental risk through the amount of travel they routinely undertake. BBC Business News 2008, reported that roughly ten percent of all cars (around thirty million vehicles in total) on the road in the UK are company vehicles. Therefore, it seems conservative that there are at least two million drivers in the UK that are periodic lone workers. RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) report there are 1,000 deaths in the UK every year in work related car crashes. Identicom can't stop such accidents obviously, however a wearable device does have benefits in terms of ease of use should the user suffer injury.
A GPS enabled Identicom device will often benefit workers of this type. Many sales representatives will also typically carry a smart-phone device therefore Identicom mobile may also be of interest if it is deemed suitable in line with their risk profile.
Lone worker managers of staff operating in this sector may also benefit from integration with the Mobile Workforce Management Platform - particularly in light of the number of workers of this type who regularly undertake international travel as part of their responsibilities.
