A long standing risk to security personnel is incapacitation or ‘man-down', whether it be when performing a site-based role or as part of a mobile operation such as a Cash In Transit (C.I.T) driver. A lone worker may become incapacitated for a variety of reasons or environmental factors including the health of the lone worker, the job functions they are carrying out, and any external incidents that place the worker under stress.
Cash In Transit staff face a specific risk of robbery that is more common than often appreciated. Statistics from the BSIA (British Security Industry Association) showed that in 2007 alone there were 1059 such robberies - placing specific demands on staff during such an incident, with the potential for longer-term wider reaching illnesses caused by stress.
Site-manning security staff also regularly encounter environmental risks potentially, whether they are working on a large facility or on a more compact site. Identicom facilitates a worker to raise a ‘Red Alert' should they need assistance, however a solution featuring a GPS enabled Identicom lone worker device with ‘Man-Down' is suggested for many workers of this type. The most mobile (i.e. vehicular based) of such workers may also benefit from specifically using a t-Series device for greater location information to be communicated should they require assistance.
